Top: Madewell   Raw hem jeans: Anthropologie   Flats: Free People (ON SALE OMG)

Labor Day is one of my favorite holidays because it means taking a break from school, kicking back and spending time with the family. I spent the weekend doing some of my favorite things: shooting a wedding with my sister (the ever so talented Ana Leigh), snuggling with the farm kitties, working at Anthropologie and catching up on some New Girl episodes. But now that Labor Day has come and gone it is time for some serious fashion business…transitioning from summer to fall. Who’s ready to pull out the stash of boots and cozy sweaters!? This in-between time can be a weird phase in fashion because the weather is all over the place (especially in Iowa) its hot, cold, warm, cool, raining and the hot again, ugh make up your mind world!  So how do you deal with the bipolar temperatures?  My go-to is the simple denim on denim outfit.

Denim on denim is super easy and requires little to no thought…it all matches (from dark wash to chambray…mix ’em all)!  Also, there are so many way to make it fit the weather outside. Denim tank with denim shorts for a hot day or a long sleeve with jeans for a cooler day!  Not even mentioning all the in between options (long sleeve with shorts, short sleeve with jeans, jean jackets. dresses, etc.)!  For this outfit I chose to wear a classic, short sleeve, chambray button down from Madewell with a pair of raw hem (TREND ALERT!) skinny jeans. This was perfect because I wasn’t too hot or too cold. I was also able to transition from class, to work, to dinner with the fam because the pairing is so versatile and classic.

What is your favorite summer-fall transition outfit?

Much love, Abigail

Robe: Anthropologie  Boyfriend jeans: Anthropologie (I bought mine 3 sizes up for a baggier look)  Tank: T.J. Max (another cute idea here)  Heels: Dillards (sold out: similar option)

Pajamas all day? The correct answer is, “Yes please!”. There is nothing better than putting on a comfy pair of pjs, wrapping up in a blanket and crawling into bed (with a cup of coffee of course…preferably french pressed). I could stay there all day…seriously, can that be my job? But let’s be real, there are just too many things to get done! My solution…turning your pajamas into a transitional statement piece.

When it comes to fashion I am all about comfort. And when it comes to everyday living I am all about coziness. So when I saw this robe from Anthropologie I knew I needed it in my closet. Not only did I see it as a beautiful robe but I saw it as a cardigan and a dress to wear out!

In the morning: Waking up in cute pajamas really makes you feel like you have your life together. Even if everything else is out of hand at least you have one thing going for you!

During the day: When you really have to get out of bed throw on a pair of boyfriend jeans and a graphic tank or tee. The robe takes this outfit from average to “dang girl!” Not only is it fabulous, it is also extremely flattering to wear something long over your outfit. It makes you look taller and slimmer. Not to mention the fact that you are basically wrapped up in a blanket. #goals.

Night life: This part is easy enough. Close the robe back up, put on some heels and accessorize any way you would like. No one would guess you were in your pjs!

Bedtime: Simply crawl back into bed (finally, right?). After washing your face and brushing your teeth;) (check out “Magical Coconut Oil” for a killer natural toothpaste recipe and other coconut oil beauty products!”

Much love, Abigail

Top: Anthropologie  Necklace: Lucky Brand  Hat: Madewell (sold out; similar style here, on sale!) Sunnies: Urban Outfitters  Shoes: Nordstrom Rack (sold out; similar style here)

Every summer my family takes a road trip down to Arkansas to visit my grandparents and relax a bit. They live on a mountain looking over a beautiful lake not to mention their award winning garden…it really is the perfect getaway. For the past couple of years we have made a stop at The Plaza in Kansas City for a quick shopping spree. I snagged this adorable tea length dress on our stop at the Anthropologie (my favorite store in the universe) (I work there) (I spend my whole paycheck on clothes) (it’s a problem). I also happened upon this hat from Madewell, sunnies from Urban Outfitters and necklace from Lucky Brand…talk about some great finds! Of course I love this detour on our trip but nothing compares to shopping in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Eureka Springs is a historic city in Arkansas jam packed full of character. From art galleries to haunted hotels, there is something fascinating through every door. Since Arkansas is very hot and very hilly this cami dress was perfect for our shopping day. The fabric is light and the length is easy to walk in. I also fell in love with this dress because of the raw edge at the bottom (trend alert!). Having a hat along is always nice to shade my face from the harmful sun rays. Oh, and a waffle cone of Blue Bell ice cream to cool down:)

If you are going on a road trip definitely work Eureka Springs into your itinerary…you won’t regret it! Also, what are your favorite road trip destinations?

Much love, Abigail

Top: Anthropologie (sold out; similar style here and it is on sale!)  Shorts: Topshop (sold out; similar style here) Gladiators: Michael Kors (sold out; similar style here)

Today is the first day of the summer season woohooooo! And I have to say nothing screams summer like an ice cold glass of lemonade and fresh cut flowers. Summer also means that it is time to pull out the shorts! High-waisted shorts with a little extra length are my thang since I don’t have a thigh-gap. The extra length prevents them from riding up when you walk (which is the absolute worst!). High-waisted shorts are also flattering on almost all body types because they hit right at the natural waist which is the slimmest part of the body.

Last year I taught myself how to embroider and fell in love with the art of it. My grandma passed down all of her old embroidery hoops, instruction books and some unfinished projects for me to finish (how special!). So when I saw these adorable embroidered shorts I had to add them to my closet. I styled them here with a blue pinstripe baby-doll shirt instead of the trendy, tight crop-top. This shirt has a v-neck which draws your eye in and helps to narrow the shoulder area, woot woot!  Since I didn’t choose to wear a crop top I had the option to wear the shirt long or tucked in to show the detail on the shorts.

For the shoes I chose a gladiator sandal. I seriously live in these and just bought a black pair from Nordstrom Rack. They are so versatile, I can throw them on with a casual outfit like this or with a nice dress for a night out. Speaking of, throw this top on with a big necklace, flare pants and some heels and you are ready to hit the town!

I hope you all enjoy the first day of summer!  I am spending today out at the farmhouse playing with the barn kitties and reading Mindy Kaling’s, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? I definitely recommend, it is so very good! Also, my family is starting to eat paleo today so we have been sending pictures of all of our meals to each other. So far I am loving this whole, hunter and gatherer thing, totally my style. The Country Time lemonade used for this shoot isn’t paleo so to make this outfit paleo friendly make sure to squeeze your own lemons and use all natural sweeteners.  I’ll let you know how it all goes, and share some recipes! Until then.

Much love, Abigail
